Investment ROI Calculator

This calculator measures how well an investment performed, both as a total return and as an annualized rate, making it easy to judge and compare different investments.

It calculates net gain as returned minus invested amount, expresses that as a percentage of your original investment for total ROI, then uses a compound growth formula to spread that return evenly across your holding period for the annualized figure.

Example: Investing $10,000 and getting back $15,000 after 3 years gives a 50% total ROI, but the more useful annualized ROI works out to about 14.5% per year — much easier to compare against other opportunities.
