How the Tip Calculator Works
This calculator figures out how much to tip on a bill and splits the total fairly among any number of people, making it quick to settle up at restaurants or group outings.
It multiplies your bill by the tip percentage to get the tip amount, adds that to the bill for the total, then divides both the tip and the total by the number of people to show what each person owes.
Example: On an $85 bill with an 18% tip split between 2 people, the tip comes to $15.30, the total is $100.30, and each person pays $50.15 — $7.65 of which is their share of the tip.
